2011 Kawasaki Concours 14: Engine Oil and Filter Change

Key Points: 1) Warm up the engine 2) Bike must be perpendicular to the ground - not on the side stand! 3) 10W-40 is recommended for MOST conditions - adjust accordingly 4) Hand tightening the oil filter does NOT reach the recommended torque 5) After filling, run the engine to cycle the oil through the system. After a few minutes, turn off the engine. Allow the oil to settle and check the level again - refill, if needed. If it's between the top and bottom lines on the sight glass, you're good to go! Tools I used: Ratchet (3/8" Drive) 65-67mm Oil Filter Socket (3/8" Drive) 17mm Socket (3/8" Drive) Oil Pan Funnel Fluids & Filter: Valvoline Full Synthetic SAE 10W-40 Motor Oil - about 4.4 L (4.7 US qt) FRAM PH6017A Oil Filter Torque Specs: Oil Filter: 17 Nm (13 ft lbs) - hand tightening is NOT sufficient Drain Bolt: 30 Nm (22 ft lbs) Special Tools: (if you want to order/use them...)
