Part 2:    • Gunung Besar Halau Halau #2 | Pendakian At...   June 1-4, 2023, we climbed Mount Besar Halau Halau in South Kalimantan, which stands at 1,901 meters above sea level. While not as high as the mountains in Java, the climb to Mount Halau Halau begins at a relatively low altitude of around 200 meters above sea level, so the 16.2 km elevation gain from base camp to the summit, coupled with steep, wet terrain, rocks, roots, and mossy trees, is incredibly draining. Starting the climb from Kiyu Village on the first day, we completed the journey to Post 3 Jumantir in approximately 11.5 hours. The journey continued on the second day to the summit in approximately 7.5 hours. Not only physical challenges, but also patience, mental strength, determination, and logistical management are crucial for preparing for the climb to Mount Halau Halau. While climbing, we must always be vigilant for wild primates such as snakes, centipedes, leeches, tomcat ants, etc., so sometimes our climb is punctuated by drops of fresh blood from bodies infested by leeches.
