Salvador, a primeira capital do Brasil

Did you know that Brasília wasn't the first Brazilian capital to be planned from scratch? That title belongs to Salvador, which was created to be the seat of colonial administration in Brazil and remained so for over two hundred years. The city's history has been quite eventful; it was invaded by the Dutch, hosted numerous revolts, and was one of the stages of our Independence. To top it off, in the 20th century, it was bombarded by local political rivalries. Ceasing to be the capital hasn't diminished its importance. Whether it's the carnival with its electric trios, which even made it into the Guinness Book of Records, its Black culture, or the streets of Pelourinho, Salvador remains one of the hearts of Brazil. And that's what I'm going to talk about in today's video.
