A brush with a killer: Candice Fox (Part 1)

Candice Fox is a multi-award-winning Australian author with more than 20 novels and three Ned Kelly Awards. Raised by a prison parole officer and a foster parent who cared for 150 children, she grew up surrounded by crime scene photos and law enforcement tales, and her meticulous research has seen her spend two years interviewing a serial killer on death row at San Quentin prison for two years and visit body-dumping sites on her honeymoon. But in spite of these impressive true crime credentials, the inspiration for her latest book came while she was sitting in her living room one ordinary morning, watching her toddler daughter play with a toy briefcase. “My daughter Violet was one-and-a-half at the time, and she's running around the house just wearing a nappy and a top hat, carrying a toy briefcase,” she recalls on this week’s episode of Gary Jubelin’s podcast I Catch Killers.
