The Medieval Bench Holdfast of 1563

An example of a medieval style bench holdfast based on woodcut depictions in the Youth of Christ dated to 1563 possibly by Hieronymus Wierix, in two woodworking scenes this style of holdfast is depicted. This example by Daegrad is made in two parts with an upset forged joint in the head, made from water quenched S275JR steel, the shaft is 12mm diameter and 200mm long (8") with a head 90mm long with a forged curve and a cross section of 10x8mm, designed for living history woodworking use, made in Sheffield England by Daegrad Tools
