Hidden Ports, Islands and Pirate Hideouts of the Caribbean! 🏴☠️🏝️
For men and women living outside the realms of the law, the high seas of the Caribbean were an exceedingly dangerous place in the golden age of piracy. Danger lurked around every turn, governments employed cunning tactics to stop the pirate menace, and running out of supplies could have been a quick death sentence. As such, pirates and their crews needed havens - places around island and coastal ports where they could safely dock. Many of these places were secret, unknown to the men of the law, providing oceanic criminals a place to lay their heads, replenish supplies, and spend the money they had made out at sea. While the ports discussed in today's video are all located in the Caribbean and its neighbouring areas, it is important to note that such places have existed the world over. Wherever there is piracy, there are ports and havens for pirates to lay low. Today, we will be looking at some of the most famous ports used as hiding spots for pirates across the golden age of piracy. We will look at their locations, purposes, and the pirates that they once harboured. Sit back as we journey to the Caribbean to explore the hidden ports and islands used by some of the world's most notorious pirates. 0:00 Introduction 1:08 Nassau 3:36 Tortuga 5:35 Port Royal 7:50 The British Virgin Islands 9:44 Saint Thomas Island If you enjoyed this video and want to stay updated on our latest content, be sure to hit the like button, subscribe to our channel, and turn on notifications.
