【メガドライブ】 ハードの限界に挑戦した最高峰のグラフィック 10選

This video introduces and explains Mega Drive games with stunning graphics that are said to have pushed the limits of the hardware. The audio narration explains the reasons for their selection and highlights the graphics. (The commentary is original to this channel. A transcript is provided below.) [1080p/60fps] 10 MD (Sega Genesis) Games that Push Hardware Limits (Best Graphics) All footage used in this video was recorded exclusively by this channel. ↓List of games↓ Aladdin Virtua Racing Thunder Force IV RANGER-X Gunstar Heroes Toy Story Panorama Cotton Contra Hard Corps ALIEN SOLDIER The Adventures of Batman & Robin ↓Transcription of audio narration (content entirely original to this channel) Aladdin This is a game adaptation of Disney's smash hit film, "Aladdin." The goal was to recreate animation on par with the film, faithfully recreating the fluid movements characteristic of Disney. The development team included as many as 20 animators to create this meticulous animation. Virtua Racing A port of the polygon racing game that was a smash hit at arcades. To achieve true 3D graphics, the cartridge was equipped with a special calculation chip called the "Sega Virtual Processor." This enabled powerful polygon rendering, said to be 30 times faster than the Mega Drive console itself. Compared to other polygon racing games released for the Mega Drive, the difference was clear. The quality was outstanding for a home 3D game of the time. Thunder Force IV Among the many high-quality shooters on the Mega Drive, Thunder Force IV is said to have pushed the limits of performance in both sound and graphics. With its powerful rock sound that made use of FM sound and ultra-detailed graphics, it rivaled even the arcade games of the time. The game is particularly famous for its detailed backgrounds, which are said to be a work of art. Exlanzer A robot action game created with the utmost attention to graphics. First and foremost, this game exceeds the hardware's limits in terms of the number of simultaneous colors it can display. While Mega Drive software can usually only display up to 64 colors simultaneously, this software utilizes the console's special features to display twice as many, up to 128 colors simultaneously. Another major feature is its "advanced three-dimensional expression." Look at the background in this scene. The angle at which the background appears to be uneven changes in conjunction with the player's movement, creating a sense of depth reminiscent of 3D graphics. This scene uses no polygons at all; the traditional 2D background and "advanced programming" create this sense of depth. Gunstar Heroes This exhilarating action shooter has been described as "using the full power of the Mega Drive's specs." The first thing that catches your eye is the sheer volume of content filling the screen. While hordes of enemies constantly appear and flashy effects fill the screen, there's virtually no lag, and the frame rate remains at 60 fps. Giant boss characters are rendered in their individual parts, and each part moves independently, thanks to "multi-joint control," resulting in incredibly smooth movement. Toy Story This action game is based on the Disney film "Toy Story." The graphics use 3D-modeled CG import processing. This technique is familiar from "Super Donkey Kong Country," and this game's graphics are just as beautiful. The game's greatest feature is that the graphics change dramatically depending on the stage. In addition to standard stages, there are "pseudo-3D" racing game-style stages and stages using "true 3D polygons." This is probably the only game to feature all three elements: "2D," "pseudo-3D," and "true 3D" in one piece. Panorama Cotton A true pseudo-3D shooter brought to life on the Mega Drive. What's amazing about this game is that such a 3D shooter was created on a system without zoom, rotation, or scaling capabilities. While zoom and scaling are used throughout the game, all of this processing is handled by the software. Featuring vertical and diagonal scrolling, which is highly unusual for a 3D shooter, the game is packed with visual highlights, including elaborate backgrounds and a display of the creator's ingenuity. The opening features an animated demo that lasts over four minutes, which is unusual for a cassette game. The game also features a unique sound control program, overcoming the Mega Drive's weakness of audio distortion. Dialogue is played with crystal clear audio. Contra: The Hardcore This is an original Mega Drive title in the "Contra" series, synonymous with action shooters. Even within the series, this title places particular emphasis on its presentation, featuring a succession of never-before-seen, powerful visuals. The game is known for its highly advanced programming, enabling a wide variety of effects, and the developers themselves have even described it as "a programming exhibition." One of the most famous scenes is this one. In this game, multi-j...
