Whistle-Stop Managing the Touchline
The England Rugby Referee Association (ERRA) has published its latest Whistle-Stop. It’s about how to manage people on the touchline when things are getting a little heated. We think you should watch it whether you are a referee or not. Poor behaviour by those watching the game goes against our core values and match officials have a responsibility to ensure positive behaviour, especially when young people are present. Through a series of scenarios, the video advises you on how to manage an awkward coach or spectator in a controlled way and with an appropriate tone of voice. A big thank you to Andrew Small for the approach and tips he shares and well done to Jamie Leahy as the (cold) referee and the theatrical involvement of the Match Official Development Officers who gathered at Five Ways Old Edwardians in Worcestershire
