⁴ᴷ The 2025 Friends of New Jersey Transportation Heritage Bus Festival (9/13/25)
Every year, the Friends of New Jersey Transportation Heritage host a large scale event outside of the Saint Veronica's Church parking lot, filling it with their large catalog of primarily New Jersey-oriented preserved heritage buses to be able to be photographed, recorded and entered in. That includes but is not limited to New Jersey Transit fleet, New York MTA fleet and other buses from agencies within the northeast. However, this event also allows for private bus owners of preserved buses to take part in displaying their own buses around the space, which gives bus fans a massive variety of different types of transit and coach buses from companies both defunct and still around, and models of all sorts that many grew up seeing when they were once abundant. All of these heritage buses can range of ages anywhere on the spectrum, with some from the 1950's and some others only recently retired in the last decade. This event can also be a good point for agencies like NJT, DASH, the MTA or any other volunteering agency to bring out something either heritage related or brand new in order to promote and show off something to a large audience, and sponsor the event. In this case, New Jersey Transit allowed for a brand new, never seen before 2025 New Flyer XD40 sent straight from New Flyer to be on display for people with admission to step foot in and witness for the first time, which also gives good contrast to the other much older NJT fleet such as the multiple well known Grumman Flxible buses from multiple different fleets and backgrounds, and the even more well known NJT RTS-06 buses built by Nova Bus. NJT along side this XD40 also offered to bring out multiple different heritage scheme D4500CT buses, which were pulled from their regular service duties to show off the different type of schemes of New Jersey's transportation. As for privately owned vehicles, these could range from multiple different owners of the retired Bee-Line 2006 Orion V buses that were pulled entirely out of service by late 2022 and later heavily modified to the owners liking, a couple of ex SEPTA D40LF buses that were part of some of the last all-diesel powered bus fleets that SEPTA had ever operated before the final fleet, the 2005 D40LF's, were retired in 2024 with an all hybrid-based fleet, or finally a more obscure type of bus such as a 2003 Gillig Phantom (the only one in the lineup) from CATS (Charlotte Area Transit System), retired in 2020 and previously numbered 535, or an even more recently retired blanked out ex. Bee-Line 2008 Orion V Suburban and 2010 Orion VII Next Generation diesel previously owned by Dutchess County Public Transit and numbered 103, both of which were the first of each type that was brought to an NJ heritage bus event. This even includes a fully interior-remodeled H3-41 highway coach made to resemble more of a fancy living space rather than a passenger coach, and the list goes on. At the end of every bus festival, all departing buses are driven up to the exit of the parking lot and driven out after being ceremoniously announced of what the bus is and a short background, before fans at the curbside can either record or take photos of the bus leaving. *Disclaimer: Some clips in this video may be a little obscured on accident, and I apologize for that. 0:00 - Buses Positioning/On Display 7:55 - Bus Parade (Leaving) 21:47 - After Parade Action Video Clips Recorded: September 13th, 2025.
