Essentially, Thomas Malthus worried that the population of Europe was growing geometrically (really fast) while the food supply was growing arithmetically (not so fast), and that would eventually plunge humanity into famine and war. We also consider critiques of his theory from Esther Boserup as well as new iterations of his theory from Neo-Malthusians.
