The TUMRA is a three-way agreement with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and the Department of Environment and Science, which will give the Darumbal people a greater say in managing a 36,000 square kilometre stretch of their Sea Country. Darumbal people say they have been seeing the effects of climate change on their Sea Country. The signing of the TUMRA means Darumbal people are now able to use traditional methods to protect and preserve the marine area; which includes enforcing sustainable fishing in the area.
