⚓✨ Saints of 365 Days : July 15: St. Bonaventure: The Seraphic Doctor Who United the Franciscans ✨⚓ Listen to the Saints of the Day Audio Podcast as we explore the towering intellect and deep mystical soul of Saint Bonaventure of Bagnoregio, celebrated on our daily Saints of 365 Days journey. 🙏 Did you know that when papal legates arrived to give Saint Bonaventure his cardinal’s hat, they found the brilliant theologian and leader of the Franciscan Order outside washing the community’s greasy dinner dishes? He calmly asked them to hang the red hat on a nearby tree branch until his hands were dry. Saint Bonaventure (1221–1274), born John of Bagnoregio, was a contemporary and close friend of St. Thomas Aquinas. While Thomas was the "Angelic Doctor" of pure logic, Bonaventure became the "Seraphic Doctor," known for integrating profound philosophy with a burning mystical love for God. After being healed as a child through the intercession of St. Francis of Assisi, he joined the Friars Minor and quickly rose to become a master at the University of Paris. Elected Minister General during a time of bitter internal division over how strictly to live Franciscan poverty, Bonaventure skillfully steered the Order through the storm, earning him the title of its "Second Founder." Pope Gregory X later named him Bishop of Albano and Cardinal, tasks he accepted purely out of obedience. He played a monumental role at the Council of Lyon, working tirelessly to heal the schism between the Eastern and Western Churches before dying of exhaustion. 🌟 In this video you will discover: • His miraculous childhood healing and how he received the name "Bonaventure" (Good Fortune). 🌟👶 • The deep intellectual friendship between him and St. Thomas Aquinas at the University of Paris. 🎓📜 • How he saved the Franciscan Order from breaking apart by balancing radical poverty with practical ministry. ⛵🕊️ • The story of the Cardinal's hat hung on a tree branch, revealing his immense humility. 👒🌳 • His mystical masterpiece, "The Soul's Journey into God," which still guides thinkers today. 🧗♂️❤️ 🔥 A magnificent historical portrait showing that the highest heights of education and leadership are nothing without a simple, humble heart that loves God above all else. 🎥 Click now and discover the life of St. Bonaventure, the Seraphic Doctor who showed that true wisdom begins on our knees.
