Glider Skimming the Salt River Mountain Peaks
Ride along as a high performance glider / sailplane flies just feet above the mountain top rocks while enjoying a fun day out flying. The Salt River Mountains are located on the east side of Afton Wyoming's Star Valley. The glider is a 15 meter (50 foot wingspan) carbon fiber modern glider capable of flying 180 miles per hour and can glide 47 feet forward for every foot dropped. We look for areas of lift where the air is going up faster than the glider is descending so that is how we are able to fly many hundreds of miles and many hours in a day. I hope you enjoy the video!
