Today I wasn't just looking for adventure in Guatemala; I found an unexpected trip back in time to my beloved El Salvador. 🇸🇻 As soon as I stepped through the gates of Auto Safari Chapín in Guatemala, the rules changed: here, the animals rule. In a world where cages are disappearing, the only limit is respect. From the awe of seeing deer and water buffalo walking just meters from my car, to the adrenaline rush of coming face-to-face with the lion and the tiger (I felt fear and fascination at the same time!), this experience made me feel tiny and alive. But this visit was more than just seeing animals; it was a mirror. It brought back the nostalgia for what we once had and lost in El Salvador with the closure of the National Zoo. Although I know we have incredible sanctuaries like FURESA, the experience of a safari where you feel like an intruder in the animals' home is a unique and worthwhile experience. Unforgettable moments from the safari: The silent majesty of the giraffes stretching their necks. The emu that "judged" me for being human. The close encounter with the giraffes at the dock: feeling their breath! The fear and fascination with the big cats. The walk with caimans, toucans, and the prehistoric lizard. 🌍 Necessary Reflection: Why visit a place like this? I know many people think, "Animals should be free." And they're right. But the reality is that their natural habitats are disappearing. Places like Auto Safari Chapín, which function as reserves and conservation programs, are crucial. These animals are ambassadors; Upon seeing them, children get to know them, love them, and, above all, fight to protect them. Coming here isn't just about seeing; it's about funding their protection.
