Deaya (pronouced: De-ya) War Dance, is a dance traditionally performed by the Gurunsi or Frafra people of the Upper East Region of Ghana and southern Burkina Faso. The dance involves elements of mock combat, choreography, chanting and music. It was performed to exhibit aggression in preparation for battle and to showcase tactics in a symbolic manner.
