Carl Gustav Jung, founder of analytical psychology and disciple of Sigmund Freud, developed a theory in which he observed several similar patterns, symbols, and ideas across different cultures. Curious about his studies, Jung decided to delve even deeper, which gave rise to the well-known archetypes. Like Freud, Jung also divided our mind into three parts: the conscious, the personal unconscious, and the collective unconscious. Each has a specific function and generally helps us deal with our own issues. The Self and the Hero figure archetypes are perhaps the best known, so I used them as the main examples.
