The children living in Asma village of Iğdır struggle with the difficulty of carrying water, which has become a part of their daily lives. In the scorching heat of the summer months, the drying up of the village fountains or insufficient water flow direct the children to water sources that are kilometers away every day. While water cannot be delivered to homes in many villages due to lack of water resources and infrastructure, this deficiency becomes a great burden especially for the children. Children, who usually carry water to help their families, sometimes have to load canisters onto their donkeys in the early hours of the morning and travel for kilometers. The villagers demand that this water shortage, which has been going on for years, be resolved as soon as possible. Although some villagers dig wells with their own means, this is not always enough. Although the water networks have been pulled in the village, the fountains do not flow continuously due to the lack of a water source. “We go back and forth 2 kilometers two or three times a day” Adem Şengül, who stated that they help their families to get drinking water; “Since there is no water in the village, we go to the village below two or three times a day and bring water” Şengül, who emptied the water carried from Iğdır with water tankers for the animals into canisters; “We bring water with such tankers and give this water to the sheep” said. Çetin Şengül, one of the village residents, stated that the hot summer months were very difficult for them and that the few water wells they had opened for the animals were closed due to floods; “There were a few water wells here. These wells were closed due to the flood. We opened a well again with our own means, but better wells can be opened. What we want is to open a well here or in the village. We want both drinking water and water for animals. We have applied to the relevant authorities several times. But we are still victimized. We get water from neighboring villages. We, like other villagers, want to get water from our fountains. Some villages even irrigate their crops. Let alone crop water, we cannot find drinking water. We get water from neighboring villages with the help of animals. We do not want a new network to be built. Everyone already has a fountain at home. If they build a pond below, that pond will fill up. At least the animals can get water from there.
