Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra - Symphony No 1 in D major ''Titan'' ( Gustav Mahler)
Orchestra: Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra Conductor: Kentaro Kawase ( Gustav Mahler ., arr. Kazuhiko Kawabe ) I. Langsam. Schleppend. Wie ein Naturlaut II. Kraeftig bewegt, doch nicht zu schnell III. Feierlich und gemessen, ohne zu schleppen IV Struemisch bewegt Mahler's First Symphony 'Titan' Gustav Mahler's First Symphony is a symphony and a symphonic poem at the same time. The premiere in 1889 was a failure: press and public found the First Symphony unbalanced and the mood swings too extreme. The lack of a clear program or title was one of the main causes of the misunderstanding. Mahler therefore added the title 'Titan' to the work for a concert in 1893 . Although Mahler later renounced the title, it is still often used for the picturesque symphony.
