In the 1990s, the Yatabe top speed test had reached its limits, and those involved were searching for the next stage. And so began the "0-300km/h Acceleration Test." As the name suggests, it was a competition to see who could accelerate from a standing start to 300km/h in the shortest time. Initially, the competition hovered around the 30-second range, but with the arrival of the R32 GT-R and the model change to the R33 GT-R, the competition quickly became a power war involving shops and manufacturers.
