September 30, 1977 A 30-meter-long pavement, composed of 50,000 elements dating from the end of the 13th century, has just been unearthed on the Rhuys Peninsula at Suscinio Castle, the former residence of the Dukes of Brittany, purchased in 1965 by the Morbihan department. The history of the site is retraced. The Brittany Department of Historical Antiquities has undertaken to restore this work. With interviews with Patrick André, professor, and André Mussat, from the University of Rennes, on the discovery of remains (pavement, stained glass, coins, ceramics) during the restoration; René Sanquer, director of Archaeological Antiquities of Brittany; Claude Bassier, Director of Socra (part of the restoration is taking place in Périgueux (24), at the headquarters of the Society for Archaeological Conservation and Restoration (Socra), Jean-Claude Menou, Curator of French Buildings, who explains the stages of the restoration.
