Fishing Success- Great Blue Herons Catching Fish

Finding my local pond has given me countless opportunities to observe Great Blue Herons. As large as they are, they are remarkably quick when the moment comes to catch their next meal. They can stand perfectly still....slightly moving their head...moving their eyes.. for what seems like an eternity before making their lightning-fast strike. They don't catch a fish every time, but more often than not, they're successful. One of the most fascinating moments comes afterward—watching them swallow a fish whole as it slowly makes its way down their long neck.
