Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur, India

Mehrangarh Fort, located in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, is a magnificent 15th-century stronghold perched 400 feet above the "Blue City". Founded by Rao Jodha in 1459, it is one of India's largest forts and a prime example of Rajput architecture. The structure, built with red sandstone, appears to merge seamlessly with the rugged, hilly landscape. -The fort features massive, impregnable walls that rise up to 120 feet in height. -It is accessed through seven distinct gates, including the famous Jai Pol, or 'Victory Gate'. -Inside, the complex houses several intricately designed palaces like Moti Mahal (Pearl Palace) and Phool Mahal (Flower Palace). -Intricate, lattice-worked windows and expansive, shaded courtyards define its interior design. -The fort contains a well-preserved museum showcasing royal palanquins, weaponry, and miniature paintings.
