The history of MPC models company. There is a correction to be made about the Stutz Bearcat kit. I said MPC repurposed their molds from the "Connoisseur Classics" range for the "Bearcats!" TV series tie-in. According to model and car enthusiast who is familiar with it the situation, it was the other way around. The Bearcat mold was new in late 1971 when the show premiered on CBS. Circa 1974, the molds were reused as part of the CC range. The "Connoisseur Classics" version may have even retained the twin Vickers .30 cal machine guns from the original issue. Also new to the "Connoisseur Classics" kit was a vacuform base with a cobblestone finish. The '14 Stutz was the odd man in the "Connoisseur Classics" series as the other cars were much later '20-30s models. The car on the kit box top is a authentic Bearcat used in the pilot TV movie "Powderkeg".
