French Carp Holiday DONE RIGHT! Chaos in France! Thunder & Multiple New PBs | Etang Des Moulinots

Spend a full week with the Parker Baits crew on a French carp-fishing holiday at Étang des Moulinots (also searched as E Tang de Moulino / Etang de Molino / Etang des MoulinoTS). Follow our swim draw, the opening-night thunder & lightning carnage, multiple 30s to a 43lb 8oz PB, a mid-week peg move, and a proper look around the venue’s lodge, facilities, and food package. It’s a social with family and mates — Connor, Luke, Richie, Ian, Shawn, my Dad — hosted by Terry (owner), and it’s wall-to-wall good times: pool, darts, apple “juice,” and massive plates of dinner at 5pm every night. What’s inside The Draw & First Impressions: 12 swims we’d happily fish — and why the first 24 hours went off. Night-One Mayhem: Bites in a thunderstorm, Connor with a low-30 common and a gnarly mirror (39lb), Sean with first-ever French carp and a PB, Ian on OG Fish over chops, Hot Chilli & Dust, and Dad banking a lovely 33lb 8oz — special three-generation photo. My Fish: A near-leather at 43lb 8oz (new PB) and a 32lb common, both on mini Magic Bean / OG Fish wafters. Venue Tour: Showers, indoor/outdoor dining, pool table, darts, honesty shop, bait & end-tackle on site (Parker Baits + Atomic), battery charging, and Sky Sports for the footy. Food Package: Breakfast rolls or full English, £150 pp for the week; set dinner 5pm daily; Thursday BBQ (steak, marinated chicken, kebab meat, homemade potato salad) and a Friday Moroccan tagine night. Mid-Week Adjustments: Working around roach & pike, changing hookbaits, moving from Peg 10 to Peg 6 (The Snug) to chase the wind and empty water. Rigs & Tactics: Spinner/Ronnie (size 5) presented as a wafter (14mm hard hooker + OG Fish wafter top, trimmed to sit neutral). Solid bag work with short hooklinks when needed; Gemini tubing (leaders banned), free-fall tubing when not on solids. Leads: 3–3.5oz inline / clip depending on silkweed; quick-change ring-loaded lead clip for boom setup. Baiting: OG Fish (wafters, hookers), Magic Bean minis, pellet, Hot Chilli Sauce, Magic Dust; light PVA mesh sticks every cast to keep it tidy in silkweed. End Game: Missed a couple heartbreakers at the net (it happens), rallied late with another mid-30, a soaking for the PB lads, and a last-night Moroccan feast. Booking & Availability For bookings and live availability (single swims or lake exclusive), head to the fishery website (live calendar, £100 pp deposit or £1,000 for lake-exclusive; balance due 10 weeks before your date). Tip: Bring less food than you think — the package portions are massive and the honesty shop has cold drinks, snacks, toiletries, gas and milk on site. Gear & Bait (featured) Hookbaits: Parker Baits OG Fish wafters, Mini Magic Beans (natural/brown), occasional 15mm mulberry. Liquids & Additives: Hot Chilli Sauce, Magic Dust, light soak of wafters (avoid over-loading to keep buoyancy). End Tackle: IB Hooks (size 5 curve/spinner), quick-change ring-loaded clip, shrink tube/kickers, tubing only (venue rule). PVA: NGT mesh sticks — simple and effective over silkweed. Rods/Line/Lead: 13ft rods kept low in storms; 3–3.5oz depending on presentation and weed.
