Others attacked the character design as “infantilized.” Yet they refuse to acknowledge that this style is, in fact, part of East Asia’s real aesthetic culture. Meanwhile, players have never truly cared about gender in the way these critics claim. What actually matters is simple: does the character look good, and is the game fun? The success of the first Stellar Blade already answered that question. What makes this even more ironic is that, while God of War: Laufey is stirring controversy, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain is directly challenging the narrative that “gamers hate women.” To them, “diversity” is a slogan when it suits their agenda — but when it appears in someone else’s work, it suddenly becomes something to suppress.
