Organ Needle - New Mexico
Organ Needle is the highest peak in the Organ Mountains, located in Southern New Mexico. Just East of the city of Las Cruces, the Organ Mountains make an incredibly picturesque backdrop to the city. The hike itself is a dayhike, consisting of a trail leading up to a section near the top I call "the Maze" where some basic routefinding and navigation is needed. There is a very short 4th class section near the summit, but ropes are in place for those who choose to use them. The views from the top are incredible, stretching as far as the eye can see in every direction.
