VENEZUELA | Delcy Rodríguez responde a la corresponsal de EL PAÍS

When questioned by EL PAÍS correspondent María Martín about the speed with which official aid was deployed after the earthquake nine days ago, the lack of officials involved in the rescue efforts during the initial hours, and the absence of resources, Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez defended her actions, stating that she gave orders quickly and that the deployment was immediate. She then raised her voice to refer to what she called “media laboratories,” responsible, she said, for sowing chaos to hinder assistance in La Guaira, the epicenter of the disaster. “The first decision that day was to militarize the state of La Guaira, because we could not allow media laboratories… to impede the search and rescue efforts… Despicable. The media laboratories that respond to partisan, political positions are despicable,” the president said, without naming whom she was referring to.
