I Thought I Might Die In My Abusive Relationship | No Filter

In this episode of No Filter, we spoke to Mia Boardman who bravely shared her experience of surviving domestic abuse during a 10-month relationship with her ex-boyfriend. Although the first weeks of Mia’s relationship moved quickly, Mia’s ex began to call her hurtful names, make comments about her outfits, and even demand that she answer her phone after calling her relentlessly. As the coercive control began to escalate, Mia’s ex-partner exhibited violent behaviour, leaving bruises she would cover with make-up. He even pulled a knife from the kitchen drawer to repeatedly stab her sofa. After leaving the relationship and rebuilding her life, Mia now feels she has found her sparkle again. Mia spoke to us as part of our Women’s Aid campaign to help raise awareness of the signs of coercive control and domestic abuse.
