Tom Holland Returns for Sweet Smokey Skewers | Part 1 | Dish Podcast | Waitrose

Son to the King of Ithaca in The Odyssey, but today he’s the king of lamb’s lettuce in our O-Dish-ey. He’s back for seconds! This week, we welcome Tom Holland back to the Dish table ahead of a summer set to dominate the big screen, with starring roles in two global blockbusters: The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This episode turns its focus to The Odyssey. Directed by Christopher Nolan and boasting an all-star cast, we dive into what went into bringing Homer’s epic to life. From the realities of filming on IMAX cameras to a cast game of “most likely to”, we ask Tom the really important questions… including who’d make the best dinner party host. (Anne Hathaway, we’re looking at you.) The Odyssey is in cinemas now, with Tom’s second summer blockbuster, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, taking centre stage in Part Two of our chat, landing next week on 29 July. While filming on the Greek shores may have inspired today’s Mediterranean menu, Angela has one thing to settle first: pigs in blankets gate from Tom’s first visit. Thankfully, redemption is served, with the sticky sausage starter cooked to perfection this time around. Then it’s on to the main event, as Angela fires up the grill for padrón pepper and halloumi skewers coated in Ottolenghi’s sweet and smoky seasoning. And because no Tom Holland appearance would be complete without a nod to his love of lamb’s lettuce, they’re served alongside Elly Curshen’s pea, mint and lamb’s lettuce salad, adapted for the season with mangetout and helda beans in place of asparagus. Tom charmed every member of the Dish team the first time he joined us, it was no surprise when he did it all over again.
