Installation: Touratech Upper Crash Bars for BMW R1300GS Adventure
Note from Touratech USA: These crash bars are NOT compatible with the BMW R1300GS standard models. They only mount directly to the OEM engine crash bars on 1300 GS Adventure models. This installation will likely take two hours to complete. It’s not particularly difficult, but does require removing and reinstalling 40+ bolts, and 8 panels attached by plastic clips. Please watch entire video before beginning the installation process. Touratech Upper Crash Bars for the BMW R1300GS Adventure are built to keep your motorcycle protected where it matters most. They shield your bodywork and critical components from damage, saving you the high cost of replacement plastics and safeguarding the radiator—an essential part of the water-cooled boxer engine. Crafted from 1-inch stainless steel tubing, these bars are designed to take the hit. They won’t rust when scratched, and are finished with either an electro-polished silver surface or a durable black epoxy coating. BMW did a good job of tucking the radiator away, but the lower corners are still exposed. One unlucky impact can leave you stranded. Touratech’s precision-engineered bars wrap those vulnerable areas, adding strength while enhancing the adventure-ready look of your R1300GSA. Unlike other designs, Touratech Upper Crash Bars complement the stylish lines of the bike and also give you a solid place to mount auxiliary lights or accessories. The system is designed to fit seamlessly with BMW’s factory lower crash bars, matching the finish perfectly for a clean, integrated setup. ** Once all three attachment points of the lower crash bars are loose, shift them until you have the appropriate angle to begin the clamp threads. Get the first few threads into the clamp nut, and then re-tighten the factory crash bars. Before fully tightening the clamps, secure the upper nose connection while holding the angle of the crash bars to your liking. After the upper mounting points are flush, then tighten down the clamps as your final step. Please call in if the bars still aren’t lining up!
