La Mansión ABANDONADA del FUNDADOR del PUEBLO "RUEDA"

The House of Don Pedro Rueda – The Origin of the Town and Its History Today we delve into one of the most iconic places in southern Santa Fe: the former home of Don Pedro Rueda, the founder of the town that bears his name. Between worn walls and time-worn roofs, this mansion preserves the origins of a history that began more than a century ago. The journey goes back to the end of the 19th century, when in 1890 a small railway station was built at kilometer 17 of the Great Southern Railway of Santa Fe and Córdoba branch line, originally intended as a technical stop for trains. But the arrival of the railroad changed everything: that spot lost among fields became the heart of a new community. In 1898, the station was named Estación Raquel, and later, in 1911, it was renamed Estación Rueda, in honor of Don Pedro Rueda, the pioneer who promoted the agricultural and social life of the area. Rueda was a visionary man, dedicated to rural progress, who promoted agriculture and local commerce, shaping what eventually became the town we know today as Rueda. The mansion that belonged to Don Pedro Rueda reflects the grandeur of that era. Built in a distinct Victorian style, it stands out for its exposed brick walls, sloping tiled roofs, tall chimneys, and arched openings that still retain the elegance of yesteryear. Here, within its walls, dreams of progress were sown and the identity of an entire town was forged. However, the passing of time has left deep scars. Neglect and lack of care for historical heritage mean that places like this are slowly being lost. Every crack and every fallen brick are a part of our history that is being erased, unpreserved. Don Pedro Rueda's house is not just an old building: it is a testament to those who believed in the future of these lands, and their memory deserves to live on. 🕯️ Exploring this place is like walking through history itself. A story of trains, estancias, and dreams of progress. And although time has punished it, Don Pedro Rueda's mansion still stands, reminding us how it all began. 💚 Thanks to everyone who follows each new exploration.
