Big Five Marathon 2019

The Big Five Marathon in Entabeni, South Africa has the most beautiful scenery I've ever run in, but was also the toughest marathon I ever ran. The marathon is through a private game reserve where wild animals live like lions, elephants, rhinos, hippos and many others. The terrain of the race was anything but comfortable, a lot of running through sand and a lot of climbing up hills or descending down steep hills. But all in all it was a wonderful race and a fantastic experience. The Big Five Marathon is organised by Albatros Adventure Marathons, who do seven extreme marathons all over the world right now. They did an amazing job organising this one and made sure we had a fabulous experience. I didn't run a PR on this race, but that wasn't the plan to begin with, I ran it to enjoy the race, the course and the scenery, and this I did. As you can see in this video I had a blast throughout the entire run and even when the running got really tough I was still having an amazing time.
