JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik, outlined several steps she will take at the start of her term. One of the policies announced is a moratorium, or temporary suspension of the opening of new kitchens and service points for the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) until the restructuring and evaluation process is complete. According to Nanik, the restructuring is necessary because the distribution of MBG kitchens is currently concentrated on Java. BGN will recalculate the needs in each region to ensure that kitchen construction is more equitable and meets the needs of beneficiaries on the ground. Furthermore, Nanik emphasized that BGN's focus going forward will no longer be on quantity, but rather on program quality. Evaluation of beneficiaries, monitoring MBG kitchen standards, and funding schemes for underserved and underdeveloped (3T) regions will be priorities to ensure the government's nutrition program is more effective, targeted, and sustainable.
