John 3:16 is considered the heart of the Gospel, highlighting that God's love was so great that He gave His only Son, Jesus, to die for His own. In John 3:16 we see the four movements of God: the origin of love, the act of sacrifice, the faith of salvation, and eternal life. John shows us an active, immeasurable, and unconditional love. John also shows us the incarnation and death of Jesus as God's supreme sacrifice. The ultimate result of the Gospel is to save us from eternal punishment (spiritual death) and give us eternal life in communion with God.
