Icidi, Madona, Fangs, & Manxome Passes, (w/DJI Mini 2), July 2023

This is my last hike in South Africa before heading back to the States. Bafana, who is a guide you can hire at the Mnweni Cultural and Hiking Center, was my only companion. He is a great guide but if he's not available, I highly recommend hiring one anyway because Mnweni area is the wildest in Central and Northern Drakensberg Mountains. It was the best hike of my life with the Bell Traverse one (   • Bell Traverse, Rwanqa & Mbundini Passes, S...  ) being a close second. The route was: Day 1: Mnweni Cultural Center to Jubilee Cave Day 2: We went up Icidi Pass and made our way somewhere close to the top of Mbundini pass and camped in the open somewhat away from any passes. Day 3: We went down Madonna and Her Worshipers and Up Fangs Passes. Had lunch at the top of Fang Pass's Cave gulley with rickdiculous views. Then hiked to the top of Pins Pass and camped there. Day 3: We strolled down Manxome Pass spending a good amount of time on the balcony filming and chilling. The view from the balcony is the most spectacular in the Drakensberg by my measure (actually, it's a tie with the bottom of Mbundini Pass - see link above). We slept in the Shepherds Cave. Day 5: Hiked back to the cultural center and drove back to Pretoria. 0:00 Mnweni Cultural Center to Jubilee Cave 2:06 Jubilee Cave 2:50 Icidi Pass approach 3:39 Icidi Pass proper 5:36 Almost top of Icidi Pass 7:57 The edge of Escarpment w/DJI Mini 2 flybys 9:32 Camping near Mbundini Pass 10:01 The path to the top of Maddona and Her Worshipers Pass 10:31 Down Maddona Pass 12:43 The Fork between Madonna and Fangs Passes 12:56 In the middle of Fangs w/DJI Mini 2 13:30 Fangs Cave gully 13:42 Fangs Cave itself 14:03 Fangs Cave gully views w/DJI Mini 2 16:26 Back on the Escarpment 17:24 Sunset and camping at top of the Pins Pass 18:19 Down Manxome Pass to The Balcony w/DJI Mini 2 21:38 The rest of Manxome Pass 22:19 Mnweni, Manxome, and Pins Passes aproach 24:53 Shepherds Cave
