What started as a simple trip from Pokhara to Ghandruk quickly turned into one of our most unexpected and chaotic journeys yet. We almost got completely stranded! In this video, we head over to Prithvi Chowk (pari chowk) in Pokhara to catch a local shared taxi (local jeep) heading toward the famous Gurung village of Ghandruk. We wanted to see what the current road conditions look like in 2026, and let’s just say the mountain roads did not disappoint. From smooth blacktopped roads to crazy off-roading paths, loose gravel, and steep cliff edges past Nayapul and Kimche, it was a total roller coaster. Once we finally made it, we checked into Hotel Milan one of the oldest and most historic hotels in Ghandruk to experience the peaceful, slow village life of the Himalayas. Early the next morning, we walked through the stone-paved alleys to visit the most viral viewpoint in Ghandruk: the famous Gurung Cottage. The panoramic views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) from here are absolutely unreal!
