For a year, I crossed Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and the Gobi Desert alone, on horseback, camelback, and on foot. My goal was simple: to understand if this nomadic life, which we in the West imagine to be so free, still exists today. As the kilometers rolled by, I shared the daily lives of Kyrgyz families, slept in their yurts, accompanied their seasonal migrations, and discovered a culture in the midst of transformation. But the further the journey progressed, the more a question became paramount. Do the last nomads still exist… or are they already just a memory? This documentary is the first episode in a series recounting a year-long journey along the Silk Road.
