Ramachandran Central Railway Station, formerly Madras Central) (station code: MAS), is an NSG–1 category Indian railway station in Chennai railway division of Southern Railway zone. It is the main railway terminus in the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is the busiest railway station in South India and one of the most important hubs in the country. It is connected to Moore Market Complex railway station, Chennai Central metro station, Chennai Park railway station, and Chennai Park Town railway station. It is about 1.8 km (1.1 mi) from the Chennai Egmore railway station. The terminus connects the city to major cities of India, including Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi, and different parts of India. The station was renamed twice: first to reflect the name change of the city from Madras to Chennai in 1998, it was renamed from Madras Central to Chennai Central, and then to honour the AIADMK founder and the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran, it was renamed as Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station on 5 April 2019. Chennai Central is a terminal station with bay platforms. The entire complex has 17 platforms to handle long-distance trains with 5 platforms exclusively for suburban trains. The main building has 12 platforms and handles long-distance trains. The complex for suburban trains is popularly known as the Moore Market complex. There is a platform 2A between platforms 2 and 3; it is used to handle short-length trains like the Chennai Rajadhani Express, Vijayawada Jan Shatabdi Express, Bengaluru Shatabdi Express, Mysuru Shatabdi Express and the Gudur Passenger. The 13-storied annexe building, the Moore Market Complex building, has 5 platforms and handles north- and westbound suburban trains. Chennai Central used to have trains with special liveries until the early 1990s. The Brindavan Express used to have green livery with a yellow stripe running above and below the windows; Nilgiri Express had blue livery. The Sapthagiri Express, Tirupati Express has a vivid green/cream livery combination with a matching WAM4 6PE locomotive from Arakkonam (AJJ) electric locomotive shed. The 16003 / 16004 Chennai Central–Nagarsol Express is an express train belonging to Indian Railways Southern Railway zone that run between Chennai Central and Nagarsol in India. This is the only train that connects Chennai with Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Basar, Mudkhed, Hazur Sahib Nanded, Purna, Parbhani, Jalna, Aurangabad and Nagarsol. There's no other trains that connects these places with Chennai. It operates as train number 16003 from Chennai Central to Nagarsol and as train number 16004 in the reverse direction serving the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & Maharashtra . The train covers the distance of 1,366 km (849 mi) in 26 hours 40 mins approximately at a speed of (51 km/h). The 16003 / 04 Chennai Central–Nagarsol Express has Three AC 2-Tier, Three AC 3 Tier, 13 Sleeper Class, 3 General Unreserved & Two SLR (seating with luggage rake) coaches. It doesn't carry a pantry car. The 16003 / 04 Chennai Central–Nagarsol Express runs from Chennai Central via Arakkonam Junction, Renigunta Junction, Gooty Junction, Dhone Junction, Kacheguda, Nizamabad, Hazur Sahib Nanded, Parbhani Junction, Jalna, Aurangabad to Nagarsol. As this route is fully electrified, a Arakkonam-based Electric Locomotive WAP-4 pulls the train to its destination and vice versa. Nagarsol railway station-cum-terminus is managed by South Central Railway. Station code is NSL. It is located at a distance of 25 km from Manmad Junction. Nagarsol is located at a distance of 44 km away from famous pilgrimage center of Shirdi. The trains coming from South terminate here. From Nagarsol transport is available to Shridi which is one hour drive. Nagarsol falls as a station under Secunderabad–Manmad line, which was originally built by Hyderabad–Godavari Valley Railways owned by Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway in year 1900 by Nizam of Hyderabad.
