"Kuba Textile Art and the Significance of Raffia Cloth in Bakuba Society” Lecture by Ashley Rickman
In her illustrated Zoom lecture, Montana Museum of Art and Culture curatorial intern Ashley Rickman discusses the origins, design, and symbolism of the famed textiles of the Bakuba people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The lecture coincides with the museum's "Homage to Africa: The Tony Hoyt and Molly Shepherd Collections" on view from February 5-May 8, 2021.
