Will a video card with DVI fix my DOS text-mode issues? (Dolch PAC-62)

On a recent video on the main channel, I replaced the LCD screen in my Dolch PAC-62 with an iPad 3 screen, but I found that over VGA I was unable to use any DOS text modes. Will using a video card with DVI solve all of these issues?
