These involve connecting the new second line to the existing yard signaling system. *Safety Inspection:* The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) typically conducts the final speed trial and inspection just before or during this phase to authorize passenger operations. *2. Recent Train Regulations* To facilitate the final connection of the tracks, Southern Railway implemented significant service changes through **April 3, 2026**: *Full Cancellations:* Local passenger and MEMU services (like the Kollam–Kanniyakumari and Punalur–Madurai Express) were suspended during the final tie-in. *Short Terminations:* Long-distance trains like the *Parasuram Express* and *Jayanthi Express* were short-terminated at Thiruvananthapuram Central, bypassing the Nagercoil-Eraniel stretch during the peak work period. *3.
