Pittsburg Landing. Hells Canyon National Recreation Area
In late July 2019 we traveled from White Bird, Idaho to Pittsburg Landing on the Snake River. Pittsburg Landing is the only place on the Idaho side of the Hells Canyon National Recreation area that you can drive down to the bottom of the Hells Canyon. From Upper Pittsburg Landing you can watch jet boats speed up and down the river and watching whitewater rafters leisurely float by. You can also hike up the trail along side the river for amazing views of the Canyon walls. Also located here is a short easy trail that will take you past Native American Petroglyphs carved into rocks. Look but do not touch these petroglyphs because they are starting to show their ago.
