Michael and All Angels
Michael and All Angels is an English Country Dance devised by Fried de Metz Herman in 1992. It is a proper duple minor dance. The tune, Let monarchs fight for power and fame, was composed by Henry Purcell as part of Masque in Dioclesian in 1690. It was performed by Bare Necessities (Earl Gaddis, Mary Lea, Peter Barnes, and Jacqueline Schwab) on the album "Modern Treasures". It is used with permission of Country Dance Society, Boston Centre, Inc. https://www.cds-boston.org/ecdc/ The animation plays at 112 counts per minute normally, but the first time through the set the dance is slowed down so people can learn the figures more readily. Men are drawn as rectangles, women as ellipses. Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color will change each time through the minor set. https://www.upadouble.info/
