Birchbark Canoe Building - part 1 - collecting bark from tree
Getting some good bark for a new birchbark canoe. Planning on making an 12 or 11 footer canoe. Gathering a nice bark sheet, measuring it, and determining what size of a gunwale frame I will need for the inside of the canoe. I show how i fell a good size birch tree with chainsaw and then strip the bark off, then roll it for transport. This is a white birch, betula papyrifera is the scientific name. New videos will be out every Saturday.
