When the Israelites returned from captivity and recovered the land of Canaan, they thought that was all there was to it. They no longer prayed to God and feared Him. God's presence disappeared. It seemed as if reality was everything. But that was the problem. The Israelites forgot that what was more important than solving the problem was their intimate fellowship with God, who had solved the problem. Therefore, the psalmist earnestly prays for God's grace and favor, and prays with the hope that He will revive us and make us people who delight in Him. Let us not forget that the restoration of a relationship that delights in the Lord is the true blessing of revival. It's about holding on. The problem isn't everything. The solution isn't the end. There's a true encounter that transcends it. There's fellowship with the Lord. The Lord is a blessing. Let us hope in the Lord. The Lord is our strength.
