Pruning peaches and nectarines is somewhat different from pruning other types of fruit. Pruning should be carried out much more intensively in order to promote the "true fruit shoot" with 2 flower buds and one wood bud. The time of pruning should be chosen appropriately. Both summer and winter pruning can be effective. In commercial orchards, pruning is sometimes done 3 times. Summer pruning, winter pruning and exposure pruning are carried out before harvesting.
