San Luis Potosí City Council Inaugurates Rehabilitated Road Corridor in Lomas First, Second, and Third Sections SLP – The San Luis Potosí City Council inaugurated the rehabilitated road corridor comprised of Cordillera Real, Montes Verdes, Montes Apalaches, Guadalcázar, Río Kennedy, and Río Papaloapan avenues in the Lomas First, Second, and Third Sections area. The mayor of the capital, Enrique Galindo Ceballos, stated that the objective is to improve mobility and provide more functional roads for the public. “When we carry out projects like this, what we are really telling people is, ‘Here is your tax money, here is what you contribute every year.’ I am sure that these streets haven’t been paved in a long time, I am sure that for years and years they haven’t been paved, and yet you pay your taxes every year.” The project allowed for the renewal of the street structure, which had suffered significant deterioration. The benefit will be for pedestrians and motorists who travel through this area of the city daily. “We are one of the administrations that has contributed the most to public works in recent years, between 600, 800, and even 1 billion pesos; 2023 was a year in which 1.1 billion pesos were invested in public works, so you can get an idea of where the tax money goes.” He stated that thanks to planning, budget approvals, and coordination among the different levels of government, greater investment in public works has been consolidated for the benefit of the people of San Luis Potosí. “The person who built this street is from San Luis Potosí, has interests here, loves San Luis Potosí, lives here, invests here, the money stays here; they contract public works, machinery, and supplies from San Luis Potosí, so if someone here depends on that production chain, what we do is ensure that the money stays here.” The road corridor will have a new lighting system to improve safety, and the Zero Pothole program will be implemented in the Lomas area. “We committed to the bollards; they're in the bidding phase. I think I'll be back in a month if you invite me again, this time at night, to inaugurate the lighting that Christian Azuara will install along this entire avenue. We're going to declare the neighborhood pothole-free; I think that will help us.” He recalled that a similar strategy to eradicate potholes has been implemented throughout the capital, the same one promised for the Lomas area. “We've filled more than 4,500 potholes. There were just so many in a city that was very neglectful of the issue. We've really got on top of it. And not just here. If there's anything that needs more extensive paving, just let me know, and I'll gladly do it.” By: Juan Carlos Contreras
