Missingno is a glitch Pokémon that's commonly remembered as the odd glitch found on Cinnabar Island's coast after talking to the Old Man. Missingno does have a practical use, being capable of duplicating items in the sixth slot when encountered, thus one of the many reasons why it became infamous.
