Studio ESS AMT-1, Messungen

The focus is on the ESS AMT-1. Naturally, it makes sense to select a suitable driver for a 2-way project. This isn't entirely straightforward. You can't just pick any old mid-woofer and experiment with it endlessly. Ideally, you'd use a driver with high sensitivity and fast bass response, which can be installed in a living room-friendly enclosure. 8-inch full-range drivers with a high power-to-mass ratio are suitable. The Voxativ AC-1.6 Black Edition, priced at €2500, would be appropriate, or the version with a field coil, which costs several times that. In my opinion, that's out of the question for a DIY project. The PS220 we selected, however, meets these requirements and is within our budget. An experiment with Lii Audio might still be possible, but other mid-woofers are automatically ruled out due to their technical specifications. We opted for the PS220 and are sticking with it. In this video, we show the measurement results of both chassis and develop a crossover network based entirely on the guidelines of Hans Deutsch, a well-known Swiss developer.
