An estimated 50,000 people in Germany have three copies of chromosome 21 – which is why it's also called Trisomy 21. Furkan Leventyüz and his sister-in-law Marie from Uetze (Lower Saxony) are very open about the fact that Marie was born with Down syndrome. They have become real TikTok stars. Dörte Kohlmann also has a daughter who was born with Down syndrome 11 years ago. She and other parents then founded the support group "Down? – Not at all!" in Lüneburg.
